What is your vision and mission for your life?

Updated: Jul 31, 2021

Having a vision and mission for your life can help you navigate those seasons where you are experiencing both transition and transformation at the same time. Like the season that I am in right now. It's a season of mixed emotions. Some moments are beautiful, other moments are hard, but all moments are necessary so I'm embracing them all.

This week I want you to really give some thought to what your vision and mission for your life is. If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner then you are probably familiar with vision and mission statements. Just like these statements establish your core values and directs the way you do business, when you create each one of these for your life they will establish your core values for your life and direct the way that you live your life.

It was during a recent session with my life coach that I realized that I had a vision and mission statement for my life, but I had not set any clear, defined boundaries, standards, and non-negotiables. So I spent some time in prayer and meditation and it became clear to me as to why I have been so overwhelmed and feeling burned out from my career, business, ministry, people, church, everything (except God and family). I've been feeling as if I wanted to just hide away with my family and not have to deal with anyone or anything. It's because I have crossed some boundaries and allowed other people to cross some, and I was negotiating on things that were non-negotiable. As I was writing out the things that I was putting in place I felt a heavy burden being lifted from me. The same will happen for you. In fact, that is your assignment for this week. Write out a vision and mission statement for your life and then write out some boundaries, standards, and non-negotiables. I want you to understand that these work both ways. You are not to allow other people to cross, disregard, or disrespect your boundaries, standards, and non-negotiables, but you yourself must not cross, disregard, or disrespect them either. This is how you truly honor yourself. When you create these and :

-commit to it

-don't make excuses

-persevere

you will feel some relief and a sense of purpose and that will help you to keep moving forward.

Prayer:

Father God, may I live a life that is in harmony with your will for me. May I constantly evolve so that I am helping others transform their lives and bringing you glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Meditate on this scripture for the week: Proverbs 19:8, "To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper."

**I want to share my vision and mission statement in case you need an example to follow when writing yours

Vision: Living a purpose-driven life where I show up every day as my best self because I am nourishing and stewarding every part of me.

Mission: To live in harmony with God's will for me (teaching and inspiring) so that I am constantly evolving while helping others transform.

God's Best,

Pamela D. Smith
