How to Pray Fervently

Prayer is one of the most powerful things gifted to us by God. We should thank God for his endless blessings and pray every day. It doesn’t matter if we’re facing life’s challenges and hardships or feeling happy and satisfied, we should never stop praying.

Fervent prayer is filled with passion and intensity. It comes from the heart. As we put our faith in God and pray with humility we should never feel inadequate when we pray.

Do you want to pray more fervently? If you think that your prayers are very basic and you feel as if you don’t know how to pray from your heart, here are three ways to make your prayers effective and more powerful.

1. Thank the Lord

Always start your prayers by thanking God for all the things He has blessed you with. When you pray with a grateful heart, your prayers will be more passionate. Before saying what you need, take some time to praise God.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." (Psalm 118:29)

There are so many things to be grateful for. But in the midst of all the worries, struggles, pressures, and busyness, we often forget to express gratitude for all that God has done for us. Always be thankful to God. Believe in God, for He answered your prayers in the past and will continue to do so. Fervent prayers include expressing your gratitude to God before you pray.

2. Learn the scriptures

Study the Bible every day and memorize some scriptures. It is one of the most effective ways to make your prayers more fervent. Studying the Divine Word of God every day not only brings you closer to God but also adds more intensity and passion to your prayers.

"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41)

Find scriptures that pertain to your particular situation and pray the Word of God right back to Him. The Word of God is a powerful, spiritual weapon that can make your prayers more fervent.

3. Keep a prayer journal

By keeping a prayer journal, you can become more fervent in your prayers. Begin a journal and write out your prayers daily. You should also write down all of the things you’re grateful for. For that, you can either keep a separate gratitude journal or list the things you’re grateful for in your prayer journal.

"He regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer." (Psalm 102:17)

Writing out the Word of God brings you closer to the truth. You can write down verses in your prayer journal and keep them with you.

James 5:16 says, “Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

No matter when you pray or what you are praying about, God hears you. When you pray fervently, power, strength, and healing are guaranteed.

Prayer:

Father God, I thank you for the privilege of being able to come boldly to your throne of grace. God, I thank you that your grace is sufficient for me. I praise you for making known to me how I can pray more fervently. I will continue to confess my faults to fervent prayer warriors so that I may be healed. I thank you that fervent prayers are powerful and effective and they bring transformation in my life and the lives of those who I fervently pray for. In Jesus' name. Amen
